And baby makes six! I’ve had the honor of photographing these beautiful kids three times now and I swear they’re the sweetest bunch ever. I love when older siblings are involved in newborn sessions. The session takes on a whole new meaning with older brothers and sisters. Those family portraits with a new baby brother or sister are ones that family’s treasure the most. I often spent a good portion of time getting as many sibling, family, and parent portraits to document the occasion. The sibling portraits almost ALWAYS end up being my favorites from the session.

I prep my parents on how to prepare their newborn for the session and their older kids as well. I will always start sessions with sibling portraits first. Next we do family portraits and finally parent portraits. I move fast and explain everything very clearly so there are no surprises for the older children. Then once we are complete Dad takes the older siblings home or out for a fun afternoon while we finish up the individual portraits of the baby. It’s worked seamlessly for years and I really cherish my time with my families!

Is she not the sweetest baby girl?! She slept so well for me and made my job as a Washington DC newborn photographer so so easy! I loved all the different set ups we were able to get with this session. I can’t quite pick a favorite!
